Reasons to Explore Local Best Breakfast Spots near Newport NC
Supporting local businesses is crucial for community growth. By choosing to dine at these local spots, you contribute to the economy and help maintain the character of our wonderful coastal communities. Plus, you get to enjoy unique dishes that showcase the flavors of the region. Each of these locations provides more than just a meal; they offer an experience.
Delicious breakfast food can be a delightful way to start your day. From comfort food classics to innovative dishes, there’s something for everyone. Here are my top choices:

🍳 1. Banks Grill – Morehead City, NC
Go for: Unique breakfast pairings, the best shrimp & grits in Eastern NC, country-fried steak, breakfast sandwiches, and homemade southern biscuits & jam.
Banks Grill is a hidden gem with a loyal local following. This classic hometown diner offers friendly service and satisfying plates. Don't miss their on-point Bloody Mary! It's a quick drive from the beach and perfect for a stroll along the Morehead waterfront. (Sorry, I devoured the shrimp and grits before capturing a picture!)
🥞 2. Baker’s Kitchen – New Bern, NC
Go for: Dutch potatoes, cinnamon rolls, hot cinnamon butter (yes, really), and amazing pancakes.
If you know, you know. Baker’s Kitchen is a favorite breakfast spot in New Bern for good reason. Their coffee is so smooth you might lose track of how many cups you've had! Located downtown, it feels like a warm hug from your favorite aunt.
🥯 3. Giovanni’s Brooklyn Bagels – Morehead City, NC
Go for: NY-style bagels, lox, and bacon egg & cheese on everything.
When the bagel craving hits, Giovanni’s is the place to be. They serve real-deal New York bagels made fresh, accompanied by house-made cream cheese spreads and breakfast sandwiches that are worth every bite. While their shop is small with limited seating, it's perfect for a quick breakfast on the go.
🍽️ 4. Kountry Kitchen – Morehead City, NC
Go for: Biscuits and gravy, omelets, and hearty portions.
Experience a no-frills, small-town breakfast that's surprisingly fulfilling. Kountry Kitchen is beloved by locals and just a short drive from Butterfly Kisses Pavilion. You’ll leave satisfied and happy, all without breaking the bank!

🥓 5. Fat Fellas BBQ and Grille – Newport, NC
Go for: Breakfast bowls, biscuits, sausage links, and local charm.
Though they're famous for their BBQ, their breakfast is a well-kept local secret. You'll find comfort food served with a hometown vibe. It’s perfect whether you're staying nearby or heading to the Crystal Coast. We love seeing Fat Fellas at weddings!
🥪 6. Ghent Sandwich Shop – New Bern, NC
Go for: Western omelets, sausage biscuits, and breakfast combos.
A true New Bern staple, this cozy spot has a hometown feel with excellent prices. It’s been around for decades and is still packed with regulars that’s when you know it's legit. They are also one of our premier partners at Butterfly Kisses Pavilion!
☕ 7. Stable Grounds Coffee – Morehead City, NC
Go for: Lattes, specialty drinks, and breakfast paninis.
If you're searching for a chill and modern spot with outstanding coffee, look no further. Stable Grounds offers amazing service, a welcoming atmosphere, and a delightful mix of espresso and breakfast options. It's my go-to for wedding day setups, thanks to their fun monthly specialty coffee concoctions!
🥓 8. Big Rock Cafe – Havelock, NC
Go for: Classic breakfasts, eggs benedict, and build-your-own platters.
Near the waterfront, Big Rock Cafe offers a laid-back vibe and a killer menu. Breakfast is served all day at reasonable prices. It’s a fantastic spot to stop after a morning at the pier.
☕ 9. Good News Coffee Co. – Swansboro, NC
Go for: Smooth espresso, cold brews, pastries, and a cozy community vibe.
A favorite in Swansboro for good coffee, Good News Coffee Co. offers a cozy atmosphere. Artisan drinks and friendly service make it an inviting stop. I love visiting here on my drives from Wilmington before wedding weekends!

🍳 10. Yana’s Ye Olde Drugstore Restaurant – Swansboro, NC
Go for: Retro diner breakfast classics, pancakes, and family-friendly eats.
Step back in time at Yana’s—a ’50s diner with a nostalgic atmosphere. Known for comfort food and colorful decor, it’s a beloved breakfast staple in downtown Swansboro. Conveniently located near public docks, it’s a perfect stop when exploring the area.

That’s a great roundup of breakfast spots in Newport, NC. It’s always nice to see local favourites highlighted, especially places that put care into their morning menus. Reading about these cafés reminded me of how much effort goes into crafting quality breakfast options—something the Delicious Food Company in Dublin also does so well with its fresh pastries, scones, and wholesome breakfast platters.
All of these spots sound yummy! I'd love to visit them after a wedding at ButterFly Kisses pavilion near Newport, NC. Love from another fellow venue owner near Baltimore, Maryland
